Bangarang at the Queen of Hoxton


The Queen has spoken and it’s out with Sky Hallah and in with Bangarang – the Queen of Hoxton’s brand new summer roof bar pop-up.

Bangarang sees the the space transformed into Peter Pan’s Neverland… Take a seat on a giant seashell, adorn your face at the glitter bar and sip your way through their brand new cocktail list.

New tipples include the Green Eyed Fairy made with melon, elderflower, lemon, bitters and absinthe, the Tiger Lilly Poloma with frozen tequila, lime, salt and pink grapefruit, and a host of mermaid shots served in clam shells. Take your pick of tequila, vodka and gin knocked back with flavoured jelly pearls.


Lost boys and girls can gorge on the Neverland BBQ menu, which features ribs, burgers and prawns pil pil.

Bangarang is set to host an array of magical workshops designed to entice your inner child including mermaid crown making and wild life drawing, with a few Sunday terrace parties and rooftop film clubs thrown in for good measure.

Bangarang is open Monday to Sunday, noon – 10pm.

Trawler Trash, Islington


A seafood restaurant with a difference has just opened its doors on Upper Street in Islington. Trawler Trash devotes its menu to the ‘trash’ catches of the ocean – unloved fish that tend to be overlooked by other fish restaurants.


Swish marble tables, textured walls and beautiful natural lighting create a perfect setting in which to enjoy the menu, which features pilchards, coley, Sprat, grey mullet and crayfish, all cooked with delicious ingredients to create tasty, alternative seafood dishes.


All the fish is cooked fresh and is never frozen, which is why Trawler Trash is closed on Mondays – the trawlers day of rest.


Culinary highlights include their cured herring, sea purslane & salted hake pate as well as their crunchy tempura seaweed. Having originated as a chippie, the classic dish remains a favourite, with a new, trashy twist: beer battered coley with chips, crushed peas and homemade tartare sauce.


Wash it all down with a pickle juice G&T, a crisp white wine, or a glass of bubbly.
